Price table · 34 Smartphones

Xiaomi stands for generous specs at a fair price. Compare models from the main brand and its sub-brands Redmi and Poco.

Three brands, one company

Xiaomi sells smartphones under three names. This often causes confusion, but there is a clear logic: each brand targets a different budget and audience.

  • Xiaomi: flagships and upper mid-range, some with cameras co-developed with Leica
  • Redmi: affordable entry-level and mid-range models, with the “Note” line especially popular
  • Poco: performance-focused models with powerful processors at relatively low prices, often appealing to gamers

Strengths: battery, charging, display

Xiaomi devices often have very large batteries and support fast wired charging at high wattages. Many models use AMOLED displays at 120 Hz or more, even in the mid-range. In storage specs such as “8+256GB”, the first number is the working memory (RAM) and the second the internal storage. 8 GB of RAM is a comfortable amount for Android today; 6 GB is enough for normal use.

What to look out for

Xiaomi uses its own Android-based interface, HyperOS. It is feature-rich and highly customisable, but comes with some pre-installed apps that you can uninstall. Update periods vary more by model than with Samsung or Google – check the commitment for the model you want.

Make sure you get the global or EU version: devices imported from China may lack Google services, German language support or certain LTE frequencies. Labels such as “Global Version” or “EU version” and a German retailer offering statutory warranty give you peace of mind.

Which Xiaomi range for whom?

If you want an affordable everyday phone with a big battery, Redmi and Redmi Note models are the obvious choice; the Pro versions add better displays and cameras. If you game a lot and want maximum performance for your money, look at the Poco F and Poco X models. The numbered Xiaomi models and their T versions are aimed at demanding photographers, with larger camera sensors and more premium builds. Within a range, always compare last year’s model as well, as the price gap is often large.

When it comes to charging, check the included accessories: the very high charging speeds are often only achieved with the manufacturer’s original charger. The phones also charge with a standard USB-C charger, but noticeably more slowly.
